AT WESTFIELD SALES
COMPETITION REMAINS KEEN
Beef was in short supply at the Westfielcl fat stock markets to-day. The demand for both classes was firm and values realised were at a good level. Competition was keen. AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS Beef.—Beef was again penned in les»s than average numbers. Competition was keen and values for all classes were very firm at late quotations. Extra choice ox sold to 40/ per 1001b; choice and prime. 37/ to 39/; ordinary ox, 34/ to 36/; prime young cow and heifer beef, up to 34/; secondary,. 27/ to 29/; choice and prime. 30/ to 33/. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £15 10/ to £16 5/; medium. £13 to £14 5/; heavy, £14 7/6 to £15 7/6: light, £11 to £12 17/6; small and unfinished, £9 to £10 15/. Extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £11 to £12; heavy, £9 15/ to £10 17/6; medium, £8 to £9 12/6; light, £6 10/ to £7 17/6; others, £3 10/ to £6 7/6.
