CLUBS AND SOCIETIES
Pemvoinen's Club.—"Some Aspects of Life in India" was the title of a talk given by Miss Hunt. She stressed the need for better understanding between the peoples of the West and of the East, and for tolerance towards Eastern customs and temperament. Mrs. N. McLean presided. Auckland Travel Club.—The president, Miss Gertrude Bertram, presided at the first meeting of this year held in the Milne and Choyce Reception Hall. The speaker, Mr. J. W. Kealy, gave an account of life in Cairo. At the second meeting Captain Humphries Davies spoke on Chinese porcelain, and exhibited some valuable specimens. Radiant Health Club. —The president, Mrs. Brooks, presided at a meeting, when the speaker was Mr. Hope-Haines, who took for his subject. "Norfolk Island." The amazing fertility of the soil was an eyeopener to the audience, who asked why New Zealand could not have some of the ample fruit supply foi use here.
