SUCCESSFUL AUCKLAND GIRLS At the annual meeting of the Auckland Girls' Life Brigade, pride was expressed at the success of two Auckland girls in the annual essay competition held among Girls' Life Brigades all over the world to foster international friendship. The subject of the essay was "In which country would you like to live after the war?" and the essays were sent to headquarters in London to be judged. Lilian Groome, of tne 18th Auckland (Knox Presbyterian), shared first place in the senior section with an English girl, gaining 95 marks, while Naomi Deam, of the 17th Auckland (New Lynn Presbyterian) gained second place, with 93 marks.
