ACUTE COAL POSITION

GAS ECONOMY NEEDED The need for economy in the use of gas was stressed to-day by Mr. R. Worley, manager of the Auckland Gas Company. The coal position in Auckland, he said, was very acute. A boat which was expected to arrive soon with a cargo of coal will be delayed several days. It would be necessary, therefore, for the public to economise if a complete stoppage was to be avoided. All industrial undertakings were being asked to declare to-morrow a gas holiday.
