QUESTION OF COST

STATEMENT BY THE MAYOR "We are waiting for advice from Wellington in regard to the Albert Park tunnel scheme," said the Mayor, Mr. Allum, this morning, when referring to a suggestion made at a meeting of the council of the Automobile Association (Auckland) last evening that provision for parking should be made in the tunnels under the park.

Mr. Allum added that there was a question of subsidy from the Government, and when advice was received the matter would be brought before the Auckland City Council. Various suggestions had been made, but the question of cost had to be considered, as the matter was largely an economic one. However, any proposal of a similar nature would receive full consideration.
