WELCOMED HOME

A welcome home to members of the forces who have returned from overseas was given by Miss Aileen Beresford, a V.A.D. of the New Zealand Red Cross Society, in St. Paul's Hall, Symonds Street. Among the guests were representatives of the Red Cross Society and pupils of Miss Beresford\s dancing class. Proceeds went towards V.A.D. work. The delight with which prisoners of war welcomed Red Cross parcels was described in a talk by a member of the Medical Corps, who was a prisoner of war in Germany for three years. Another soldier, who sailed with the First , Echelon, and an airman who has served in the Solomons with the R.N.Z.A.F., also spoke. A musical programme and dancing were enjoyed.
