FOR DEAF AND DUMB
DOMINICAN SISTERS' SCHOOL
The first school for deaf and dumb children to be established by the Dominican Order in New Zealand was officially opened in Wellington this week by his Grace Archbishop O'Shea. Eleven children have been enrolled, and there is living accommodation for 15. It is called St. Dominic's School for the Deaf and Dumb, and there are sister schools in America, Ireland, South Africa and Australia. Archbishop O'Shea said the work that would be carried out at the school was of the greatest importance, and could not be in better hands than those of the Dominican sisters.
