PARTY RECALL

U.A.P. Members To Leave Advisory War Council

COUNTRY PARTY MAY FOLLOW Rec. 1 p.m. CANBERRA, this day. The members of the Federal United Australia party have instructed their representatives to withdraw from the Australian Advisory War Council. The U.A.P. members of the council are Messrs. R. G. Menzies, W. M. Hughes and J. A, Spender. The decision was reached by 23 votes to four. It is possible that similar action may be taken by the Country party. Members of the U.A.P. emphasised that while the latest Ward incident had brought the matter to a head it was not a major factor in their decision. They had been dissatisfied for some time with their continued ! association with the Government, which had become purely political.
