AWARDS TO AIRMEN
CROSSES ASTD A MEDAL. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Monday. Awards of two Distinguished Flying Crosses and a Distinguished Flying Medal to New Zealand air personnel serving overseas appear in the latest list of decorations notified to the Air Department, Wellington, by London. The recipients are:— Distinguished Flying Cross. — Flving-Officer J. R. G. Bathgate, of Outram; Warrant-Officer C. F. Laloli, son of Mr. L. W. Laloli, Whakatane. Distinguished Flying Medal. — Flight-Sergeant G. W. Burness, of Timaru. The citation accompanying the award to Warrant-Officer Laloli states: "Sustaining multiple shrapnel wounds in a leg and thigh during an action in November, Warrant-Officer Laloli, as wireless operator of an aircraft, insisted on carrying on with his duties, remaining at his post until the action was completed. His example of courage and devotion to duty is highly commendable."
