OBITUARY

MR. ANDREW D. THOMSON (P.A.) WELLINGTON, this day. Mr. Andrew Duncan Thomson, a former magistrate and Assistant Public Service Commissioner from 1913 to 1920. has died. Mr. Thomson was born at Napier in 1864 and educated at his father's private school. He entered the Public Service as a cadet in the Wanganui Court in 1878. From ISB3 to ISS7 he was clerk in the Magistrate's Court at Feilding, and subsequently at Wellington. He was appointed a magistrate at Palmerston North in 1903, and sat there until his appointment as Assistant Public Service Commissioner in 1913. In his youth he represented Wellington at Rugby football, and was prominent in lawn tennis and rowing circles. , ~
