OFFICERS PROMOTED
SALVATION ARMY POSTS
Several changes among leading Salvation Army officers have been announced by Commissioner J. Evan Smith. Lieutenant-Colonel S. Smith will be training garrison principal; Brigadier W. Smith, of Auckland, < will be young people's secretary for the Dominion at Wellington; Brigadier A. Hildreth will be manager of Whatman Home for children. Mastcrton; Major N. Bicknell will be young people's secretary, Auckland; Major E. Thorne will become manager of People's Palace, Wellington; Major P. Norman will be manager of the Men's Industrial Home, Addington, with oversight of South Island military work.
Major Norman has been in charge of the Papakura military hut for the past two years, and Major N. Bicknell has just returned from the Middle East, where he was padre for three years. Brigadier Smith was for a number of years in Korea arid had to leave it on the outbreak of war.
