EYES ON N.Z. DERBY TARA KING TO RACE AT OTAKI (Special.) WANGANUI, this iday. Tara King, owned by Messrs. J. and P. O'Neill, of Wanganui, is to race in the sprint event at Otaki on Saturday. The Wellington Guineas winner is reported to be belter for that race, and he should be still further improved with his effort this week-end. Tara King promises to be very hard to beat in the N.Z. Derby, as he is bred to stay as well as go fast. Mr. George Currie's two-year-old Subdued, with two wins in two starts to her credit, will probably be favourite for the Welcome Stakes at Riccarton. The Ringmaster —Submission filly has done all that has been asked of her since her Wellesley Stakes win, and it will take a high-class youngster to beat, her if she goes on all right. Donegal Bay shaped well at the Foxton meeting for five furlongs, and lias done well since. The Phaleron Bay mare is to contest the five-furlong flutter at the Levin meeting, and is likely to be handy in the final stages. May Win Again Panamint, now in Miss Rita Jackson's stable, is to fulfil her engagement at Otaki. The Broiefort filly won well at Waverley, and her recent track work has been good, so she mighty again be in the money. Amigo has not been on the tracks since his Foxton Cup win, but he is in good shape, having been given useful work on his owner's farm. Mr. L. G. Paul will probably take the Beau Pere gelding to Bulls the meeting there on December 4. » The Wanganui-owned two-vear-old Apocalypse has gone on nicely since his race at Waverley. The son of Revelation —Tambourine was very burly on Labour Day. but, later on in the season, he might prove capable of winning some money for Mr. Harry Card, who won the N.Z. Cup in 1925 with The Banker, and has owned other good horses. All Bunsby disappointed at the Foxton meeting, but he may do better at the Rangitikei meeting next month.

the McMillan bracket S. Waddell is to ride Gladynev in the New Zealand Cup. and his younger brother, A. G. Waddell, will ride Don Quex. The McMillan horses are to race at the Levin meeting on Saturday, and their Cup riders will be in the saddle. SOUTH AUCKLAND TROTS Nominations for all events at the South Auckland Trotting Clubs' combined meeting at Claudelands on Saturday, December 4, close on Friday at 5 p.m. with Blomfield and Company, Auckland, and at S p.m. with the secretary, Mr. G. H. Jew, Hamilton. NOW AT TRENTHAM Since the Wellington October meeting Blue Bonny has been an inmate of H. Telford's stable at Trentham, where Master Dash and Caithness are trained for the same owner. This brother to Daljarrock is engaged in the C.J.C Welcome Stakes next week. 3. H. JEFFERD'S HORSES J. H. Jefferd will be taking Poutatau and Joseph Conrad to the Cup meeting at Riccarton. Poutatau's mission on the first day will be the Stewards' Handicap, arjd Joseph Conrad will contest the Derby. J. Williamson has been engaged to ride both horses. Poutatau did not race at Napier, but has been working well, states the Dominion. Joseph Conrad contested the open nine furlongs handicap on Saturday, but ran a poor race, finishing last. FORM OF FINDON One of the easiest wins of the day at Napier on Saturday was that of Findon in the second novice event. This grey son of Kincardine and Ruinette is closely related to the Stewards' Handicap winner Grand Sport, and is not unlike that horse in type. Findon did not have much to beat, but he did the job very easily, and he looks like being a hack much above the average in class. ENGAGED IN STEWARDS' Boulder Dam, which won the Napier Handicap, is a candidate for the Stewards' Handicap. Though sounder now than he has been for some time, he was feeling the effects of Saturday's race, states a southern writer. Broughton nursed him a good deal for the final run which won him the race, and the performance did not impress as a good Stewards' trial. Anything Boulder Dam has done to date has been suggestive of stamina, and the Stewards' field might be too brilliant for him. MYSITO PASSES BY While working on the Matamata course, Mysito, a siS-year-old horse by Myosotis from Princess Rawene, owned by Mr. R. Comer, of Ruawai, North Auckland, fell and broke a leg. He was destroved. Mysito showed pace as a two-year-old and won the Electric Handicap at Te Aroha, but in 23 starts in the following season he only won once, a hack race at Ellerslie. He was a complete failure in the next season, and didn't go to the races last term.
