YACHTING SEASON
OFFICIAL OPENING DAY THE COURSES DEFINED • The yachting season in Auckland will officially open on Saturday, when the clubs will compete in combined racing. A big muster of the smaller craft is anticipated. All events will be started from Mr. F. B. Cad man s Satanella, which will be moored in the vicinity of the compass dolphin to th«: eastward of the clubhouse of the Royal Akarana Yacht Club. Course lor keel yachts and mullet boats.— From starting line between Stananella and mark moored approximately north, thence around Resolution (port hand), thence round Sandspit (port hand J, thence, keeping north of mark moored at north end of starting line, ..round Rona buoy .(port hand) to finishing line between Satanella and mark moored north. If a black flag is displayed competitors will sail the course in the opposite direction, proceeding first to Rona buoy and rounding all turning marks on starboard hand. Course for classes M, V. S. T. X and Y.—From starting line between Satanella and mark moored approximately north, thence round Resolution (port hand), thence round Sandspit (port hand), thence, keeping north of the mark at the northern end of the starting line, round red cone buoy off Stanley Point (port hand), thenre keeping north of mark moored at northern end of starting line, round Resolution - (port hand), thence round Sandspit (port hand), thence keeping north of mark at northern end of starting line round red cone buoy ofl Stanley Point (port hand), to finishing line between Satanella and mark moored north. If a black flag is displayed competitors are to sail the course in the opposite direction, proceeding first around Stanley Bay mark, and are to round all turning marks on starboard hand and so on for two complete laps. Course for classes Z, Silver Fern and Frostbite.— As for classes M, V. S, T, X and Y. but once round only. All events will be started on the three flag system at five mintfte intervals. Boat owners are reminded of the necessity for observing the Defence Regulations, which require, amongst other things, craft to keep clear of certain areas and to be moored before sunset. • Starting Times.—Keel yachts, 2.15; mullet boats. 2.20; M, V and S. 2.25: T, X and Y, 2.30; Z, 2.35; Silver Fern, 2.40; Frostbites. 2.45. '• A launch will leave the Royal Akarana Yacht Club at 1.30 p.m. and will convey officials only to the Satanella.
