SHEEPSKIN CLOTHES DISPLAY

At the 11th birthday celebration of- the - Auckland branch of the women's division of the Farmers' Union, branches throughout the Auckland province were represented by their delegates. The president Mrs. R. Judson, welcomed the visitors. Mrs. F. A. Mclntyre, of Helensville, gave an address and demonstration on the curing and dyeing of sheeskins, together with the correct,, recipes,.. Her . display of ; garmehf.s -arid- toys, - made • from sheepskins, proved a revelation. Mrs. Vickridge and Mrs. Campbell demonstrated the making of wool from a spinning wheel, and Mrs. Glauminza, of Aoroa, Dargaville, showed how spinning is done in Yugoslavia. There was also a fine display of home-spun woollen garments to be sent to the merchant seamen overseas. A special welcome was accorded the president and secretary of the Auckland branch of the .Women's Institute, Mrs. J. R. Home and Miss Reston. Items were given by the Kurapuna Maori Girls' School, Onehunga, and other artists. When taking the roll call of branches, special tributes were paid to the Hoteo North branch. One member there, it was stated, sent down regularly large quantities of flowers, which are distributed-to the sick.
