PART OF THE CHURCH

COMBATING WAR NEUROSIS The Church should play its part in assisting to combat war neurosis said Archdeacon A. J. Petrie, of Christchurch, at the Anglican General Synod yesterday, in support of his motion that this matter should be referred to the committee on public and social affairs for discussion and recommendation, and to the standing committees of the dioceses for such action as was thought best. The committee which reported on the subject felt that the real trouble was a lack of religious basis in life, said Archdeacon Petrie. It was considered that the Church had a part to play. Archdeacon J. R. Young, of Wellington, spoke of the need of specialists among the clergy, although the general body of clergy should be prepared to assist. The proposals were adopted.
