A WORTHY CAUSE
BENEFIT RUGBY MATCH STAR PLAYERS ON BOTH SIDES There is some outstanding football talent in the Army and Navy teams which are to meet at Eden Park to-morrow, in a benefit match for the dependants of ratings who lost their lives in a recent action. Both teams include players who are well known to the public locally, and others who have performed with distinction in other 'provinces. The Army has J. Smith at centre threequarter. He shone in the North-South match at Wellington, and has played brilliantly with a Service team at Whangarel. Opposite him in the Navy side is G. Sellers, Auckland representative, who scored the outstanding try of the Auck-land-Wellington match last Saturday. Army has G. Hook, the North Island full-back, in that position, while Navy has Nolan, a South Island player of repute, as full-back. He will captain the side. F. Bell-Booth, on the Navy wing, was emergency for Auckland last Saturday. There is Riley, a player with a reputation in Taranaki football, and Jack Barry and K. Smith, former Auckland forwards, in the Navy side, as well as Waldegrave, a hard grafting forward. The Army, selectors have not availed themselves of the services of several men who have played for Auckland this season, but are giving others an opportunity. One of them is Cowley, a sound Mount Albert Club League player.
