DIG FOR—NO RATS, NO WATER, NO FRUIT!
An obliging soul, I have wmked hard (slogged is the word) and have my "victory garden" well under way. Digging the rubbish, scraps etc. in too, although the "powers that be say "Don't encourage rats. t;verjth'ing coming on nicely. Next st ®P I apply to the City Council for a hose license, and am refused. Iso restrictions on a watering-can, thoughMaybe the radio gardener win describe how best to water a quarteiacre per the watering-can. I SJ- ies ® we could do with some fruit to cheer us up. What's this! A placard— "No fruit unless bought with vegetables," and still the insane jabbenn o about "victory gardens" continues. Wise are they who ignore it. l m learning fast.
