MANAWATU FLOODS
(P.A.) PALMERSTON N., Monday. Prolonged rain over the week-end and warmer conditions melting the snow on the Ruahine Ranges resulted in the Manawatu, Pohangina and . Oroua Rivers all flooding together. The Manawatu River's peak was 14ft at Palmerston North but the prospects for the lower reaches in the vicinity of Foxton are not bright as a result of all three rivers pouring their surplus over the spillways into the low-lying farm lands. The Oroua River overflowed its banks in the Kopane area. This is the third flood in a fortnight which settlers in the lower areas have experienced.
