CONCERNED.—A husband is entitled to an exemption in respect of his wife only if his wife's income does not exceed £50 per year. Unless her net income exceeds £200 she will not be liable for income tax. If hen income exceeds £200 the tax will be levied on the total joint income with one exemption of £400. ANXIOUS.—If the whole estate is left to the daughter, the death duty would be approximately £21. If the property is transferred now, the total gift and legal expenses would be £42. REMUERA —You should apply for an age beenflt. You are liable for the registration fee of £1 per year. If you genuinely wish to live in the house, and the tenant has suitable alternative accommodation available for him, the Court will grant you an order for possession. W.F.G.—You cannot compel your landlord to repair the shed It is possible that as a result of the lack of repairs the present rent is excessive, and you could apply to have the fair rent fixed. A.N.—The driver is not liable for any damages unless it is proved that his negligence was the cause of the accident. SUBSCRIBER.—The tenant cannot be obliged to give ycu possession except upon an order of the Cou-t. The Court will not make an order against the tenant unless you prove that suitable alternative accommodation is available for the tenant. If you are dissatisfied with the rent you could apply to have the fair rent fixed. HOME FOR DAD.—The Arm must obtain leave of the Court before it can seize your furniture. You will have an opportunity of being heard by the Court when the application is made. If in the meantime you continue to pay 5/ per week it is unlikely that the firm will take any proceedings. TITLE.—The buyer pays the cost of transfer of the title from the seller. ANXIOUS. —You should have paid all the debts so far as the estate would allow, and if there was not sufficient each creditor should have been paid rateably. You must pay the claim. A WIDOW.—For the purpose of calculating the benefit, the legacy to you was deemed income, and accordingly your benefit is reduced in the ensuing 12 months. CURIOUS. —You must pay Social Security and National Security on your private income. M.M.—You may be entitled to claim for maintenance from your husband's estate either as a creditor under the maintenance agreement or as a wife under the Family Maintenance Act. Without further information I cannot be more specific. If you are divorced your rights against your husband as a wife will cease. COUNTRY.—The money derived from the sale of your property will not affect your benefit unless the amount of cash in the bank is increased bevond £500. You will not be liable for tax on the moneys received from the sale of your house. RELATIONS.—You should be prepared for at least £10 expenses. Whether any claim could be made upon you will depend upon how long you stayed.
P.B.A.— Probably the Maintenance Officer at the Magistrate's Court will be able to help you. If you are able to take care of the children and provide them with a suitable home no doubt you will be able to obtain the custody of them. RANGI— Your age benefit will not be affected.
