KOWHAI SCHOOL ROLL

PARENTS OPPOSE CHANGE The following motion was carried unanimously at the annual meeting of parents of pupils of the Kowhai Intermediate School last night:— "That this annual meeting deplores a suggestion to reduce the numbers at the Kowhai Intermediate School and requests that the numbers be not reduced below the 880 mark without the consent of the Kowhai Intermediate School Committee and the parents concerned." The motion was proposed by the deputy-chair-man, Mr. A. A. Buckley. Tributes to the valuable work done by the school in developing life opportunities were paid by the Mavor of Mount Albert, Mr. H. A. Anderson, who presided at the meeting. The principal, Mr. J. F. Wells, said visual education was becoming extensive in New Zealand, and Kowhai had led the way. Parents' representatives on the committee were elected as follows: — Mrs. E. A.. Smythe. Messrs. L. E. Rhodes, A. A. Buckley, E. H. Page and J. M. Barkc*
