GOLDEN ACRE INJURED
OWNER INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT (Special) WANGANUI, this day. That useful hack Golden Acre was seriously injured in a cattle stop earlier in the week, and this will prevent him racing for some time, if ever again. His ownertrainer, Mr. G. W. Moore, was also involved while endeavouring to extricate the horse, and he stopped a kick which eventually landed him in the Wanganui Hospital, where his condition is regarded as satisfactory. Golden Acre had been working well and was considered a good prospect for a race at Easter. What is more, an offer of £650 was recently refused for the gelding. Amigo is engaged at Feilding and has done a fair amount of work, but he appears more or less sore, and his ownertrainer is having an anxious time with the son of Beau Pere. Keite-he is enjoying a spell. This son of Defoe has shown promising form and it will come as no surprise if he furnishes into a good three-year-old. The Wanton is being got ready to race at Feilding. The Midian filly has speed, and she might pick up some money before the season ends. First Girl looks fresh and well on it and has been doing good work on the tracks. Unfortunately, the Pombal mare does not reproduce in public the brilliance she shows in training. First Girl is to race at Feilding and will then be given a spell. The form shown by Whero and Tuatara at Hastings suggests that Dave Marks might win a race or two at Feilding for Mr. W. Duncan, who also owns Poutu, a very promising young hurdler. Poutu is just the stamp to do well at the jumping game.
