YARRA FALLS OPERATIONS
Yarra Falls, Limited, reports that during the six months ended December 31 last business was confined to making defence and standard civilian goods at relatively lower margins ot profit. The labour question was steadily growing more acute, and since January had been rapidly getting worse, which would probably still further affect the value of turnover. The directors felt in the[Circumstances, that it would be unwise at this stage of the year's operations to declare an interim dividend in excess of Ud per share, equivalent to s"i per cent. For the corresponding .term last year 1/ per share, 5 per cent, was paid.
MYER EMPORIUM
Directors of Myer Emporium, Ltd.. Melbourne in an interim report, state that trading for six months ended January 31 resulted in a decrease In turnover compared with the corresponding period o£ last year. In spite of the considerable savings effected in expenses, net Profit also decreased. Manpower difficulties, rationing, and limitation of supplies may still further reduce turnover in the ensuing period of the financial year. Although stocks at January 31 were higher than at the corresponding date last year, the problem of future supplies is presenting increasing difficulty. Directors have declared Interim ord. dividend of 2>4 per cent (unchanged) for the half-year, payable April 10.
AUSTRALIAN CURRANTS
Seventh period licenses to import currants and raisins from Australia will be granted for amounts equivalent to the amounts of licenses granted for imports of similar goods from the same source in 1942, announced the Customs Department, Auckland, to-day.
