Under this heading, in the New of the Day column, of the issue c the Auckland Star dated April 1, was very much impressed in readin what Mr. J. H. Luxford said ii addressing the Auckland Justices o the Peace Association at a luncheoi gathering. His advice is so neces sary to-day when the evil spirit o gambling seems to have a hold o so many people. We should all pra] that parents and all who ar< responsible for the bringing up o: children may see that this evi thing may be the means of bringing many grey heads with sorrow to th< grave, 'if not put a stop to at once for it is corrupting the child mindEven shops, opened for receiving contributions in the form of clothing and food to be sold for patriotic purposes have some of these contributions advertised in the windows tc be sold by ticket, and drawn on a certain date. Can the heads of these places expect money gained in this way to help to win the war? C.G. I
