Net profit of £8687 was made by Victoria Nyanza Sugar Company, Ltd., lor the year ended June 30, after providing £8320 for depreciation and £2167 for taxation. This compares with £10,227 for the previous year, when £8731 was provided for depreciation and £1832 for taxation. Dividend of 2Vz per cent, reduced from 5 per cent, requires £7500, leaving £23,491 to be carried forward, against £22,304 brought forward. The average price obtained for sugar was 18/8 a ton higher than in 1940-41, but costs increased by 22/2 a ton, and profit was proportionately reduced.
