R.A.F. reconnaissance planes which flew over the harbour a few hours after the scuttling on November 27 reported that more than fifty ships were damaged or partly submerged. Even those ships which were not actually sunk had been dismantled by the French- sailors before scuttling. The minesweeper Chamois sinking, and (right) torpedo boats.
