Chinese Attack And Repulse Japanese BURMA-YUNNAN FIGHTING Rec. 1 p.m. CHUNGKING, Mar. 29. The Chinese have recaptured an unidentified town on the south bank of the Yangtse River in the Hupeli Province and have encircled the Japanese at a number of other points in a series of successes which, according to a,Chinese communique, have again exposed the Japanese base of communications in Ichang to Chinese attack. The Japanese suffered several hundred casualties near Kwajung. Severe fighting is going on near the Yunnan-Burma border. v The Chinese High Command stated to-day that a Japanese column, operating in Yunnan from Burma, has been wiped out and two- other columns repulsed.
