CARLAW PARK GAMES

Two matches were played by U.S.A. baseball teams at Carlaw Park on Saturday. Yale opened with six runs and Ponsonby replied with five. Yale scored another in the third and another in the fifth, while Ponsonby could only net three in the fifth. Dukich, at third base, was good for Ponsonby, and kept- the runs down. Yurczyk, the Yale pitcher, kept Ponsonby quiet, and Patuska was the best batter. Ponsonby required two runs in the last innings but could not make it and Yale were the winners by the odd run. _ In the latter game between Remuera ana Victoria, Remuera opened with a four, and Victoria did not open until the second, and then only with a single. The Victoria catcher. Williams, was sound, and Remuera could not take any risks. Heckenback at right field took a great catch to dismiss Center, while Ku "i at left field caught Grey with a fine catch. Holstrum pitched well for Remuera, and with Stone at first base on his toes the Victoria men did not get very far. Perko and Godfrey took two nice flys from Johnson and Kunich. Following were the scores:— . - Remuera: 4 (Godfrey. Coppes, Grey, Holstrum) 1. (Dusing) 1. (Grey) 0, 0. o—6; Victoria: 0.1 (Garrett), 1 (Brazana). 0, 0. 0.
