WEST END WINS THE SHIELD
In the final tally of points at the North Shore regatta on Saturday, West End won the Bennett Shield with 383 points. Then followed North Shore 346, Waiteraata 221, Auckland 100, and H^iah n shore gained the most wins and secured the Powley Cup, Mason Cup, Clarke Shield, West End the Hislop Cup, Cook Cup; Auckland the Cameron Cup; Hamilton the Mcllwraith Cup, and Waitemata the Barrett Cup. The last time West End won the Bennett Shield was in 1936.
DARK BLUES VICTORIOUS
LONDON, February 14. Oxford University won the second inter-University wartime boat race, beating Cambridge by twothirds of a length over a one and a-quarter mile course on the Thames. The time was 4.49. The race docs not count in the official records.
