NO HOSE LICENSES

HEAVIER FINES IN FUTURE

Eight prosecutions by the Auckland City Council, seven charges of using a hose without a license and one of using a sprinkler without a license, were heard this morning in the Magistrate's Court before Mr. J. Morling, S.M. Fines ranging from 10/ and costs to £1 and costs were imposed. The magistrate stated that as these were the first offences of this nature this year he did not intend to inflict a heavy penalty. He made it clear, however, that if these offences continued, and particularly if any offender was found committing a similar breach on a subsequent occasion, a heavy penalty would be imposed, one which would be a sufficient deterrent in the future.
