DOGS ON LEASH
The, patter of placing dogs on the leash in the streets is obviously in line with the march of progress and reform, and the One Tree Hill Borough Council is to be commended for giving a lead. In New Lynn, where I reside, it is a common thing, for shoppers (mainly _ women, of course) to be accompanied by their dogs, the notice forbidding entry ot dogs into shops being ignored, much to the disgust of shopkeepers as well as of the public. The condition of the footpaths in places, too, is revolting, due to pollution by dogs, i am a dog lover, and I hope also tnat I may reasonably claim some measure of love for my fellow men. tor these reasons my dog is placed on the leash when he goes <?n tne streets. Notwithstanding this protection he is often regarded as a mark for aggression by stray dogs, and not only is the inoffensive dog not safe but even human beings are subject to canine attack when using the streets.
