RECRUITS WANTED
CAMPAIGN FOR NURSES A window display of nurses' dresses from early times to the present day will be held by arrangement between Milne and Choyce, Ltd., and the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Trained Nurses Association, from February 18 to 26 inclusive. The display is- part of a Dominion-wide campaign organised by the association to interest girls and young women in nursing as a career. Although civilian nursing is not at present actually short of recruits, it is meeting with wartime competition from the new uniformed services, as well as from industries in which high wages are paid. The purpose of the campaign is to bring the profession before young girls at an earlier age than hitherto, in the hope of encouraging them to think of it as a career. The Auckland branch of the association is preparing a leaflet setting out the main items of information about nursing, the training course, remuneration and opportunities for specialising in obstetrical work, infant welfare, district and industrial nursing, dietetics and occupational therapy.
