OBITUARY

MRS. ANNIE FENTON (0.C.) PUKEKOHE, this day. In her 83rd year the death has occurred of Mrs. Annie Fenton, who was one of the few remaining passengers of the sailing ship Bombay, which arrived at Auckland from England in 1865. Born in County Cork, Mrs. Fenton was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Buttimore, and was five years of age when she accompanied her parents to New Zealand. With many other passengers, they took up land at Bombay. After her marriage Mrs. Fenton went to Auckland where she resided until her husband's death 40 years ago. She came to Pukekohe five years ago. For 50 years she took an active interest in Methodist Church affairs. She is survived by one sqn and three daughters.

MRS. E. PHITjTJTPS The death has occurred in Auckland of Mrs. Elizabeth Phillips, aged 84. Mrs. Phillips came to New Zealand from Falmouth, Cornwall, in 1873, with her parents and six sisters, and the family settled near Albany!, Over fifty years ago Mrs. Phillips and her husband took up residence' in Grey Lynn, and she lived there in the same house until her death. Although she was an invalid for the past 40 years, Mrs. Phillips took a keen interest in current affairs, and retained vivid memories of the early days. Her husband died 11 years ago, and she is survived by four daughters, one son, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
