LOAN FOR DRAINAGE

DARGAVILLE, Wednesday. A poll of ratepayers was taken today on a proposal to raise a lean of £22,000 for a sewerage scheme within a special rating area in the borough of Dargaville. Another issue was a loan of £5000 for assistance to ratepayers. The voting on the first proposal was 121 for, 8 against, and on the second 121 for and 9 against. The proposal provides for dramage in the area lying on the north side of the Kaihu creek, excluding the whole of Mangawhare, but in eluding the area required for the newNorthern Wairoa Hospital, which is to be built at Dargaville. In expressing satisfaction as the result of the poll the Mayor,' Mr. R. Gibson; who is also a member of the Kaipara Hospital Board, said the latter body could now proceed with the excavations on the hospital building site, preparatory to the erecting of the institution.
