£20,000 GIFT

FOR WAR SUFFERERS SOUTH TARANAKI FUND (P.A.) HAWERA, this day. A sum of £20,000, the free gift of Misses K. and J. Buchanan, of Hawera, has been vested in what is to be known as the Buchanan Trust for the benefit of ex-servicemen, nurses and members of the mercantile marine domiciled in South Taranaki, who have suffered temporary or permanent disability as a result of war services and also for the benefit of their children or widows.

The expressed desire of the donors is that the whole fund should be disposed of within ten years from the declaration of peace.

The Misses Buchanan are daughters of Mr. Donald Buchanan, a South Taranaki pioneer, and neices of Sir Walter Buchanan. Their brothers, J. VV. and Donald, reside at Masterton.
