INCREASED PRIZE-MONEY The committee of the Auckland Trotting Club has allotted £2875 for its meeting at Alexandra Park on Saturday, February 13, and this represents an increase of £500 on the amount distributed at the last February meeting. _ , , Chief event will be the Otahuhu Handicap, a race over a mile and a half for a purse of £600, while the Sixth Great Northern Trotting Stakes, first race this season for two-year-olds; should create interest. . „ , Owing to the dearth o* local pacers for the faster classes, the provision of the Royal Handicap, 4.42, and the Papakura Handicap, one mile and a quarter, 2.53, is welcome as a stepping stone to higher grades. Other events on the programme are.— Trial' (trotters), one mile and a half, 3.49: Mount Albert, one mile and a half, 3.38; February (trotters), two miles, 4.ol; and Railway, one mile and a half, 3.34. Nominations for all events will close with the assistant-secretary, Miss K. J. Glover, at 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 28.
