AFFORESTATION PROGRESS
! (0.C.) HAMILTON, Friday. The afforestation schemes in the extensive pumice country between Putaruru and Taupo are in an extremely healthy condition and have completely changed the appearance of what was formerly drablooking tussock-covered land. The majority of the trees, consisting principally of pinus insignis, were planted about 12 years ago and many of them have reached a height of 75ft. One company. New Zealand Forest Products, Limited, has 178,000 acres planted, while another Pacific Products, Limited, has 17,888 acres covered with trees.
