Sir Reginald Blomfield's Death
Announced
DESIGNER OP MENIN GATE Rec. noon. LONDON, Dec. 28. The death is announced in London of the famous British architect, Sir Reginald Blomfield.
Sir Reginald Blomfield, R.A., A.R.A., M.A., F.S.A., was a past president and Gold Medallist of the Royal Institute of British Architects. He was also a member of the Royal Commission of Fine Art and the Board of Ancient Monuments. He was o nthe Advisory Council of the Victoria and Albert Museum, and was principal architect of the Imperial War Graves Commission. He had many foreign honours, including membership of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. His works include civil and domestic architecture and garden designing, among which are the Menin Gate, Ypres, and war cemeteries in France and Belgium. He wrote many books including a Short History of Renaissance Architecture in England.
