THEFT OF TIMBER

YOUNG MAN PINED £10

The theft of six pieces of kauri timber valued at £1 16/ was admitted by Sidney Holden. aged 20 a motor driver, in the Police Court today. Holden, said Senior Sergeant Harley, was yesterday carting timber. It was found that he drove his truck containing a load of timber to his place for lunch, and while there he removed six pieces. He admitted the theft to Constable Gibson, and explained that he wanted the timber to build a trailer for his motor car. An appeal for leniency was made by Mr. K. C. Aekins who represented Holden. Counsel said it was a case of sudden temptation. The magistrate, Mr. F. H. Levien imposed a fine of £10.
