GAOL FOR ASSAULT

SEXTE.VCK OX SEAMAN A seaman on an overseas vessel, Howard Theodore Hanson, aged 28' before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., in the Police Court to-day pleaded guilty to a charge of assaulting Laurie John Wilson yesterday. Senior Sergeant Harley said Wilson and a friend were leaving a cafe in Queen Street about 2 o'clock vesterday morning when he saw two girls being annoyed by Hanson. Knowing one of the girls, Wilson remonstrated with Hanson who struck him. Wilson fell and injured his head on the footpath and was admitted to hospital. He was still in hospital, but was making a satisfactory recovery. The magistrate sentenced Hanson to one month's imprisonment, but ordered him to be placed on board his sh'p if it sailed before the expirv of the term.
