HARBOUR SEARCH
THREE MISSING MEN
DRAGGING OPERATIONS
The three men from the city who left Cornwallis on a fishing expedition on Tuesday morning are still missing, and fears for their safety have increased. The dinghy in which they sailed was recovered early yesterday afternoon floating upside down with the anchor out.
The men are: Mr. Herbert Edward Reading, aged 63, retired, of 159, K'nyber Pass Road; Mr. John Fox, aged about 42, of Shackleton Road, Mount Eden, and Mr. Dudley Burley, aged about 27, of 16, Prospect Terrace, Mount Eden.
When the men left Auckland early on Tuesday morning to go fishing on the Manukau Harbour, they were to leave from Cornwallis, where the dinghy was moored, and expected to return about midday. As they had not returned yesterday morning Mrs. Reading notified the police.
Yesterday's search, in which an aeroplane was used, was without result. Four constables have been dragging at Cornwallis and were still engaged in the search to-day, but no trace of the three men has yet been found.
