DEATH ON SERVICE

NIGHT FIGHTER PILOT

Advice has been received by Mr. W, Williams, who resides with his daughter in Edenvale Road, Mount Eden, that his youngest son, Flight Sergeant Bernard Clive Williams, has been reported killed on active service.

Flight Sergeant Williams was educated at Balmoral School (then Brixton Road School), and Cleveland High School, Sydney. He was well known in the motoring trade. Flight Sergeant Williams gained his wings in New Zealand prior to leaving for overseas in July, 1941. On his arrival in England, he was subsequently posted to the famous R.A.F. No. 1 Night Fighter Squadron, led by the one-armed British ace, SquadronLeader MacLachlan, and served with this squadron until his death.
