LARGE FOWL RUNS
I see the Hon. Mr. Armstrong has objected to fowls being kept by State tenants, owing to health reasons. Then why are hundreds of fowls permitted on single sections in the suburbs. These crowded runs breed flies and rats and at times the stench is awful. A petition was signed by many residents in the vicinity of one of these runs statins it to be a menace and a danger, being in close proximity to a school. The only result of this petition is that fowls are still roaming to adjoining fences, more and more sheds arc being erected, and blow flies are increasing in number and are to be found in every window from front rooms to back ones. One simply dreads the coming summer. Why this unhealthy menace is permitted no one can understand. 1 am sure many old residents in the vicinity aprrcc with inc. and arc al>u bewildered and di>£u-led.
