WEEK-END LEAVE
Much has been said about weekend leave and I would like to put forward my own position which, I am sure, is that of hundreds of other wives who have taken on jobs to help the war effort. After working hard all the week the occasional week-end leave was something to look forward to. One does not notice the loneliness quite so much when working, but week-ends alone are not much of an encouragement ot reward. As it is my husband will now get home on "furlough once every four months, and as I shall be at work and cannot let my employer down by staying away, we will not see much of each other. An occasional week-end would be much more appreciated and also a little help with the heavy work now necessary in the vegetable garden which, we are assured, is most essential and would be a war effort in itself.
A LONELY WIFE
