PACKING PARCELS

6400 FROM AUCKLAND FOR MEN OVERSEAS Voluntary team workers are at present packing 6100 parcels for the men of the fighting services overseas, and the scene at the Seddon Memorial Technical College hall, \vhere the packing is in progress, is one of activity. The Auckland Metropolitan zone's quota is <>227 parcels, hut an additional 171' parcels are being packed for the Thames zone because of the difliculties in obtaining the necessary supplies in that area. Representatives of 40 patriotic and other organisations are assisting in the work.

The Mayoress, Mrs. .T. A. C. A Hum, president of the women's activities sub-committee of the Auckland Metropolitan Patriotic Committee, is attending each day to supervise the work with Miss B. Carnachan, convener of the house committee. The cases were assembled by the Technical College boys and Training College students and two volunteers, Mr. M. Evitt and Mr. T. Atkins are wiring the cases when packed. The Auckland centre of the Women's Institute is supplying tea for the luncheon and afternoon breaks.
