Mr. Arthur Caro. formerly of Auckland, who was in Kobe when .Japan attacked America, has reached New York in the (Jnpshoen. the first ship in whicii tne exchange of internees, through Lorenzo Marques, was cfTerted.
Letters received by his brother, Mr. S. Cam. indicate that while ho was fortunate in being sent to a lenient camp, the lack of food was very severely felt. The invariable menu was rice for breakfast, macaroni for lunch and rice again for supper. The occupants of the camp were always worried that they might he sent to one of the other camps, where the men underwent tortures and hardships, but luckily they escaped further ill-treatment.
