SWISS SENT TO PRISON
HKQCKI* TO WOMAN'S DEATH (P.A.) DUNEDIN. this day. Sentence of three years arid six months' imprisonment with hard labour, was passed by Mr. Justice Kennedy on Henri Arthur Hirt. aped 49. whose conviction on a charge of the unlawful use of an instrument was affirmed by the Appeal Court. Counsel for prisoner. Mr. White, said that fresh evidence had come to light, and in all probability an application would be made for a new trial. Hirt. he said, was born in Switzerland and studied medicine there.
The Crown Prosecutor, Mr. Adams, said the police had heard something of this new evidence and attached no Importance to -it whatsoever. In passing sentence, his Honor said; "Your action was no doubt, the cause of the death ot' a misguided woman who sought your aid."
