PRESIDENT'S TOUR
I Two Weeks' Inspection Of U.S. War Plant IMPLICATIONS OF JOURNEY Rec. 1 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 1. President Roosevelt has returned to Washington from a most successful two weeks' inspection tour of the United States, covering 8754 miles, says British Official Wireless. During the tour he inspected army and navy bases, shipyards and tank, aeroplane and shell-producing plants, as well as army, navy and marine training centres, supply depots and embarkation ports. Mr. Charles Halleck (Rep., Indiana) in the United States House of Representatives, to-day said that the suppression of news concerning President Roosevelt's tour of war plants was censorship neither necessary nor desirable. He added that the political implications of the journey would he very discernible to the people, who would much rather have the President stay on the job of winning the war than mixing in politics.
Mr. Halleck hoped that Mr. Roosevelt had not established a precedent by which lesser administrators could conceal their activities.
