NAVY'S LIGHT COASTAL. CRAFT British Official Wireless Rec. 12.30 p.m. RUGBY, October 1. An Admiralty communique states: "Light coastal forces intercepted an enemy convoy of about six supply ships with a powerful escort off Terschelling, one of the West Frisian Islands off the coast of Holland, about midnight last night. The convoy was immediately engaged, and a torpedo hit was scored amidships a medium-sized supply ship, which blew up. One of our motorboats was hit and stopped. As the action was very close to the enemy coast, it was impossible to tow her back. While she was being ertgaged by four of the enemy, a motor torpedo boat came close" to her and took off all the crew, who set fire to their boat before leaving. When las: seen the abandoned boat was blazing furiously. Still engaged by the enemy, the lemainder «_>t" our forces sustained only supet'f.cial damage and returned safely m harbour. The casualties are not heaw."
