FROM AUCKLAND
UNIONS' DELEGATION ARRIVAL AT HUNTLY (/Special) HUNTLY, this day. There was another development this morning by which some settlement was hoped to be reached at Huntly. A delegation from the Auckland Trades Council of the Federation of Labour, representing 40,000 workers, arrived in the town with some proposals which it was hoped could be put to the men. The delegation consisted of Mr. F. Craig, president of the council, ana Mr. Roy Stanley, a member of the council. They hoped to meet the executive at an early hour, and if possible to call a general meeting of the miners to put the council's proposals before them. How this move will be affected by the later happenings of the morning is Impossible to predict. There is no doubt that the decision of the Court came as a bombshell. Few of the strikers had anticipated that prison terms would be imposed.
