OBITUARY
MR. G. A. PAQUE
The death has occurred of Mr. G. A. Paque, well-known 'cellist. He was a member of a long line of musicians well-known in England and on the Continent. His uncle, Mr. G. F aquc. was a solo 'cellist to Queen V tctoria, and also the Queen of Spain.
Mr. G. A. Paque was born in Lontlon and won a number of scholarships and medals of the London College of Music. After his arrival in Mew Zealand, he soon became known as a 'cellist and as a conductor of orchestral societies. Mr Paque was deputy-conductor of the Auckland Choral Society for some years and assisted many other musical organisations. He was widely known as a teacher of the cello. He was predeceased by his wife nine years ago, and is survived by one son and one daughter.
MR. S. B. SCHMIDT
The death has occurred of Mr. S. B. Schmidt, aged 67, of Tudor Street, Devonport. Mr. Schmidt was wellknown in musical circles and was a partner in Schmidt Studios. He was a member of the Prince of Wales Lodge of Freemasons and the Auckland Masonic Institute, and a life member of the Auckland Orphans' Club. Mr. Schmidt took a keen interest in rowing and belonged to the Auckland Rowing Club. He was also a life member of the North Shore Rowing Club. He is survived by his wife, one son and two daughters.
